For the first time since the skills challenge has been part of the all star events, the fans have the power to choose who would play against Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. This is called the “choose your squad” program for the players who would play for the game; this had started last January 27 and ended last February 15. The players who are nominated to play are namely: Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Baron Davis of the Los Angeles Clippers, Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings, Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers, Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls who is the champion of the skill challenge in 2009, John Wall of the Washington Wizards and lastly Russel Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunders. Last Tuesday the fans had spoken and choose 4 players out of 8 and they chose the young stars of the league. This would be an exciting game which most of the players are young and fast which these guards are best known for. The chosen players are Stephen Curry who led all in free throws percentage with a percentage of (.941) who is also participating in the 2011 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam. Derrick Rose who will also participating as starter in the Eastern Conference in the All-Star game. John Wall who is the overall first round pick in 2010 who will also participate in the Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam and lastly Russel Westbrook who takes his first time appearance in an All-Star event and is also a reserve in the Western Conference in the All-Star game. They will face Chris Paul and battle for the title this coming Saturday night.
